Holiday Luminary Night
Each December, the River Walk swim team hosts our annual Holiday Luminary Night! Since 1988, residents have lined the streets in front of their homes with these beautiful glowing lights. This is the Shockwaves' only major fundraiser, enabling us to purchase equipment, hire coaches, provide the season banquet and medals, and cover general operating expenses. In order to make luminary night happen, each year a large crew of swim team families come together to collect orders, then package and deliver the 7500 candles, white bags and 2+ tons of sand needed to fulfill around 500 luminary kits.
It's a beloved tradition for so many River Walk families to drive the neighborhood while listening to Christmas music, and enjoying the lovely scenery of their neighbors' festive decorations amid the cozy glow of luminaries. If you are new to luminary night, be prepared for a very special evening!
This year's display will take place on Sunday, December 7th at 6 pm.
*In the case of inclement weather, the backup date will be Sunday, December 14th.*
One kit includes all supplies needed for 14 luminaries, plus assembly & display instructions. Kits are $25 each, or two kits for $40. If you live on a corner lot or have a longer stretch of curb in front of your home, two kits will likely be needed.
All orders are due by Sunday, November 2nd.
