Scratch Rules and Fines

A swimmer who is a late scratch at either the Championship or Classic meet for other than a valid reason, as determined by the sole discretion of the C&C Meet Director (physical, death in family, etc.) will be fined $50 per individual event and $100 per relay event payable to the League. Scratches reported prior to 10am on the Wednesday following Divisionals will be fined $25 for each event. The responsibility for the fine is on the team. Failure to pay said fines by February meeting of the next year makes that team and all its members ineligible to participate in SAIL until all fines are paid. This fine does not apply to alternates who have not been called by Thursday night. Moving a swimmer or relay from Championships to Classics is optional for the swimmer or relay if notified after 5pm on the day before Championships. Fines may be waived if proof of illness or medical/family emergency. The request must be submitted in writing to the C&C Meet Director by the last July SAIL Board Meeting or via scanned copy sent by email to cc@swimsail.org

To scratch during the week:

Complete the online Scratch Request Form which forwards your request to the Meet Director. You MUST receive a personal email confirmation from the Meet Director for the scratch to be considered official.

Scratches during the meet:

Should a swimmer become ill during the Championship or Classic meet and is unable to swim in their event(s), the coach must immediately notify the Meet Director. The Meet Director will be at the meet officials/volunteer table. It will be necessary to have a doctor’s excuse or documentation from the medical personnel on duty to avoid the scratch fine.

Register Your Swimmer for Each Meet

The following information is very important. We need every swimmer to declare if they are swimming or not swimming at the Holly Tree meet next Thursday, June 14 at 5:30 pm. Remember, no swimmer can be added at the meet. If you don't declare them to swim ahead of time, they will not be able to participate in that meet.

Here's how to do it:

-Go to https://riverwalkswim.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

-Scroll down to June 28th at RMEA -You will see a green button that says "Meet Entry" - select that button

-Select "Edit"

-This brings up a drop-down button to declare if your swimmer is attending the meet or not attending the meet. If your swimmer is not attending the meet, please make sure you "Save"before you exit the screen.

-If your swimmer is attending the meet, you will be prompted to select the events for them. Select the events and check if they are available for relays. You can also leave a message for the coaches. For example, this would be a good time to let them know if your swimmer can doesn't feel comfortable swimming in relays or is only available for events in the first half. The coaches will have a chance to look over the selections and will work with the swimmers to help them get all of the events in for Iron Man (award for swimming all of the events in their age group throughout the season - not in one meet) if that is the swimmer's goal.

-Make sure you "Save" your selections before you exit the screen.

We also need the parents to sign up to volunteer. Please select the "Job Signup" button and select the volunteer role for you. It's very important that every parent volunteers at each meet. Please contact Michelle Hager with any questions about volunteers - 864-704-2003 or michelle.hager@live.com.
